Charlotte Chiles Lewis' Obituary
LEWIS, CHARLOTTE JEWELL beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, born on November 15, 1922, into the early Texas Pioneer families of Harsh Edmonds Chiles and Jewell Files Chiles in Itasca, Texas, went from the loving arms of her family to the loving arms of her heavenly Father on April 17, 2014, in Dallas. Charlotte graduated from Hillsboro High School and received her BBA from the University of Texas in Austin. She enjoyed working at Neiman Marcus in Dallas after graduating, Charlotte married the love of her life Robert Franklin Lewis Jr., on March 22nd, 1947 in Hillsboro, Texas. Charlotte was blessed with strength and character and created a home full of Christ like love, laughter, beauty, security and cherished memories. She had a passion for family, gardening, bridge, genealogy, DRT, DAR, DAC, Colonial Dames, Jamestown Society, needlepoint, family photographs, and ice cream. Charlotte authored several books on her family and its history. Most of all she had a deep love for her Lord Jesus Christ. Devoted to her family, she is survived by her adoring children, son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Elaine Lewis, son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Janet Lewis; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Frank Purcell; grandchildren, Rick Lewis, John and wife, Naomi Lewis, Matt and wife, Joanna Lewis, Mark and wife, Hallie Lewis, Simpson and husband, Brian Hogan and Bates Purcell and great- grandchildren, Lizzie, Audrey, Jack, and Gentry Lewis and many nieces and nephews and dear friends of all ages. Internment will be at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 West Northwest Highway in Dallas at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 19, 2014 with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM at her beloved Providence Presbyterian Church at 10727 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75229. The family has requested in Lieu of Flowers memorials be made to Providence Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
