Charlotte Sue Lovette Means' Obituary
Means, Charlotte Sue Lovette 79, died peacefully on the evening of October 3, 2011 in Allen, Texas. A native of Denton, she was born August 25, 1932 to Burt L. and Christine Lovett, the third of four children. Sue graduated from Denton High School before attending, and graduating, from North Texas State Teachers College where she was a proud and active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She continued her academic career at North Texas State University, where she obtained her masters degree in education. Sue married Tom Owen Means on June 5, 1954 and together they raised two sons, making their home in Richardson, Texas. A beloved teacher, she educated an entire generation of children in the Richardson Independent School District. A remedial reading teacher at Richardson Junior High and a third grade teacher at Northwood Hills, her greatest delight was attending special events and graduations of her former students. She was always thrilled when former students reached out to reconnect with their favorite teacher. Sue was the consummate mother and caregiver, taking care of neighborhood children as if they were her own, teaching them to read and the value of an education. Her light shined brightest, however, as a devoted grandmother who cherished her grandchildren from the moment they were born. She taught them to love Disney, the beauty of hummingbirds, to ride the “rocky” horse and the name of every flower in her extensive gardens. Sue was predeceased by her husband, Tom, but is survived by her son, Michael Tom Means and his wife, Debi Means of Plano, Texas, her son, Mark Tom Means and his wife, Susanne Means of Allen, Texas and her four precious grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew and Emily Means and Cameron Bradford. A gathering for friends and family will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the Richardson Women’s Club at 2005 North Cliffe Drive, Richardson, Texas 75082. Though Sue loved all types of flowers, flowers cannot be delivered to the venue, so in lieu of flowers, please make donations, if you wish, to Cal Farley Boys Ranch P.O. Box 1890 Amarillo, Texas 79174.
