Chen - Chin Kung's Obituary
Chen-Chin Kung passed away peacefully in August 2025, at the age of 57, in Plano, Texas. Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Chen was the adored son of Pi-Ju and Shih-Chieh Kung. As the youngest brother to three older sisters, Nancy, Susan, and Sendy, he was showered with affection. He was a devoted son and brother and took care of his family. After graduating at the top of his class at Tamkang University, Chen came to the United States to continue his studies. He had a talent for computer programming and was a meticulous student. He followed his dreams and earned his Master’s in both Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Chen met his wife, Baihua, while they were both studying for master’s degrees in Texas and they were married in 1998. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Lauren and Thomas. Chen was a loving father and worked hard for his family. He taught his children how to ride bikes, drew pictures for them, and played music on the piano as they jumped in bed nearby. His favorite song to play on the piano was “Long, Long Ago”. Chen had a long career as an electrical engineer at Texas Instruments. One of his proudest achievements was inventing a testing instrument still in use by the company today. He was extremely passionate about his field and excited about all things technology. Throughout his life, he continued learning, self-studied, gushed about math concepts with his kids, and talked about semiconductors with his friends late at night. Beyond his work, he was a thoughtful friend who supported those in need, always ready to cheer them up. Chen found his second home at Fo Guang Shan International Buddhist Progress Society in Dallas. Left with decades of memories are his wife, children, sisters, mother, nieces and nephew, cousins, and a host of other loving friends and family. Chen touched many people’s lives and is deeply missed. His detail-oriented nature lives on in his daughter, and his inclination towards computer programming lives on in his son.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, September 2, at the Restland Memorial Chapel, 9001 Restland Road, from 10:30am - 12pm. The family invites you to join us for lunch at IBPS Dallas, 1111 International Parkway, after the service.
