Chester F. "Chuck" McCann's Obituary
Chester F. "Chuck" McCann passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022, at his home in Richardson, Texas. He was 99.
Chuck was born to George and Leah (née Patrick) McCann in Rusk County, Texas, on September 9, 1923. He graduated in 1940 from high school in Mt. Enterprise, Texas. Soon after high school, Chuck enrolled at the Stephen F. Austin State University where he graduated in August, 1943.
In October of that same year, Chuck reported to active duty in the United States Navy where he served on board a ship (mainly in the Pacific Ocean) until August, 1946. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Chuck enrolled in graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin. He would later be recalled to active duty for two years during the Korean Conflict.
In 1950, Chuck began a 40-year career with Magnolia/Mobil Oil Corporation in Dallas. It was at Mobil he met fellow employee Alice Dupree and marred her on November 27, 1960.
Soon after they were married, Chuck and Alice moved to Richardson, Texas. They were active members of the First Baptist Church of Richardson for 55 years. During those years, Chuck served as a Deacon, Preschool Teacher/Worker, an English as a Second Language Teacher and a Prayer Ministry Coordinator.
Besides being a faithful servant at the church, Chuck was also a faithful husband and father. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Chuck is preceded in death by: his beloved wife of 62 years, Alice; his parents; and his five siblings.
He is survived by: his daughter Kelli Innis, her husband Jim and children Jonathan and Lauren; his daughter Kim Hamblen, her husband Jeff and children McKenzie, Cooper and Conner; his nephew Felbert Maxwell and family; and by his nieces Lera Tyler, Trudy Gove, Patty Saxon and their families.
Funeral services will commence at 2:00PM on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Richardson.
