Vernessa Cummings
I was about 9 or 10 years old when I first met my cousin Chong. She and Bobby were newly married and she was here in New York visiting and stayed with my family (Charlie and Ella). At the time Chong didn't speak much english so me with my little self took the charge to teach her. So everyday I would talk to her and read to her from my books. Chong was a quick learner and pretty soon she was reading to me! Chong always kept my sibilings laughing with her self expression. She even taught us the use of the herbs growing outside. When Chong left to be with Bobby it was very sad because life in our house would never be the same! Chong taught me a very valuable lesson early on in life⦠it doesn't matter the cultural barriers with the common thread of love all things can be overcome. Rest in Peace Chong! Gone but never forgotten! .Your Little cousin Vernessa Cummings
