Choyce B. Kendrick's Obituary
Choyce Bailey Kendrick of Horseshoe Bay died on September 25, 2017. He was born on December 15, 1924 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Choyce was the oldest child of Choyce Bailey and Lily Carolyn Palmer Wilson. Choyce was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances, and brother James. He is survived by his son Geoffrey King (Jeannie) of Bedford, Texas; son James Manning Kendrick (Debra) of Oak Point, Texas; daughter Susan Lorene Thomas (Bill) of Weatherford, Texas; daughter Dorothy Carolyn Coker of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his sister Carole Myers of Bullard, Texas. Choyce was an alumni of Juliette Fowler Home. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, both in Dallas, Texas. After serving in the Navy in the Pacific during WWII, he graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. During the mid fifties, he and Frances organized MAPSCO, Inc., which grew into a leading regional map publisher and map retailer. Choyce organized a group of American map dealers into a group that eventually became the International Map Industry Association with world wide membership. They sold the MAPSCO Company in 1988 and retired to Horseshoe Bay. The family requests that memorials go to charity of donor’s choice.
