Chris Miller's Obituary
Michael Christopher (“Chris”) Miller of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020 as a result of injuries from a car accident. His family was by his side when he left this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born to Suzanne Davis Miller and Curtis Todd Miller on October 13, 1971 in Dallas, TX. Chris was reared in Dallas, TX where he graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1990.
After high school, Chris entered Texas Tech University where he played baseball as a left-handed pitcher and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He continued his baseball career and ultimately graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in accounting in 1994. Chris was a Certified Public Accountant and would later enter law school at Southern Methodist University graduating in 2000, Cum Laude and Order of the Coif. He had a successful career at Arthur Andersen, Vinson and Elkins and Hallett & Perrin.
While at Texas Tech, Chris met his future wife, Carrie Michele Sherman. They married in 1994 and had three children- Jordan, Katie and Samuel.
For all who knew Chris, he was not only known for his contagious smile, but even more for his gentle and loving spirit, and of course, his love for baseball. He was a family man to say the least. His life “started the moment he got home from work,” he would say, which was passed down by his father. He loved others with a Christ-like compassion. He was intentional in each of his relationships and made people feel known.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carrie Sherman Miller. He is also survived by his daughter, Jordan Miller Frederiksen and her husband Lars, daughter Katie Miller, son Samuel Miller; father Curtis Todd Miller; brother Steven Miller and his wife Christy; sister Melanie Christian and her husband Rusty; and sister-in-law Heather Miller Ashby and her husband Brent Ashby. Also surviving him are Carrie’s parents, Mike and Susan Sherman, Carrie’s sister Jane Hansen and her husband Rick, and Carrie’s sister Dory McGinnis and her husband Kevin. Chris loved and cherished his nephews and nieces: Tanner Miller and his wife Michelle, Cameron Miller, Emily Miller, Reese Miller, Lindsay Christian, Lane Christian, Caden Christian, Jarrod Christian, Addison McGinnis, Alexandra McGinnis, Shelby Hansen and Hudson Hansen. He is preceded in death by his mother Suzanne Davis Miller and his brother, Todd Davis Miller. Chris also leaves behind many great friends and other family members that he cherished throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2pm at Prestoncrest Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’ memory can be made to Susan G. Komen, Mission of Hope Haiti and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
