Christian Myles Johnson's Obituary
Christian Myles Johnson was born September 3, 1995 in San Antonio, Texas, the youngest son of Sterling Jr. and Vadrina Johnson. He died unexpectedly April 25, 2016 at University of Chicago at the age of 20. Christian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Agnes and Warren James Sr. of Mansura, Louisiana and his paternal grandfather, Joseph Berry of Moreauville, Louisiana. Christian is survived by his parents, Vadrina and Sterling Johnson Jr. of Plano, Texas; a brother, Sterling Johnson III; a paternal grandmother, Shirley Berry of Moreauville, Louisiana; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Christian attended local Catholic schools, graduating from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in 2013. He excelled in the classroom, earning praises from teachers and peers alike for his writing and analytical abilities. He enjoyed expressing his thoughts on current events to anyone with an open ear. Christian earned a reputation as a jokester, music critic, and gamer. He relished in shock humor and quick wit, bringing joy to those having a rough day. He followed esoteric music blogs and carried large headphones around his neck to share his discoveries with those feeling down. He relaxed by challenging his friends in video games such as Super Smash Brothers Melee or Street Fighter. He was pleasure to those around him. Christian started playing golf in middle school, and it quickly became his passion. He loved playing rounds of golf with friends and family. He spent his days practicing at the driving range, watching tournaments, and reading commentary. During his time at Jesuit, he played on the golf team. Upon matriculating to University of Chicago in 2013, Christian shifted his interest to philosophy. He joined the intensive philosophy major and became one of the top students in the program. His professors described him as one of the few students who could get in a debate with them and probably be correct. His zeal for the subject inspired his peers to become philosophy majors and take philosophy courses. His favorite writers were Michel Foucault and Soren Kierkegaard. Christian’s interest in music grew into a radio show at University of Chicago. He played a variety of genres, including soul, rock, hardcore hip hop, and rap. He decided to air his show at 4 a.m because he himself spent long nights in the library and recognized the dearth of quality music at that time. Christian wanted to attend law school and become a litigator. Christian will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him. He inspired those around him to learn, enjoy life, and strive to be a Man for Others. His funeral mass will be held at 1:30p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas, TX. Reverend Anthony Lackland of All Saints Church will officiate the services. Family will receive friends from noon to 1p.m. with Rosary to begin at 1:00p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016. Entombment at Whispering Waters, Restland Memorial Park following the service with Dr. Michael Waco, Officiant.
