Christina “Chris” Palacios Martinez January 1, 1939 – August 6, 2025
Christina “Chris” Palacios Martinez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on January 1, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, where she grew up and later became a longtime resident of Mesquite, Texas.
Chris began her working life as a talented seamstress before dedicating herself full-time to raising her family. A devout member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, she devoted countless hours to her parish community. She taught CCD classes, served faithfully in the Women’s Guild, was a member of the Finance Board, and ministered to the homebound. She was also a Eucharistic Minister, sharing her faith with grace and compassion.
Chris shared 65 beautiful years of marriage with her late husband, Jerome “Jerry” Martinez. Together, they traveled far and wide, building a life rich in love, laughter, and service to others.
Outside of her devotion to faith and family, Chris had a lifelong passion for tennis. Fiercely competitive yet full of good sportsmanship, she won numerous trophies and awards before retiring her racket at the remarkable age of 82. Her generosity, kindness, and ability to make friends wherever she went left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Chris is survived by her loving children: Mitchell, Jerry, Phillip, Angela, Teresa, Ramon, and Gabriel; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear relatives and friends. She is also survived by her brothers Raymond and Herman, and her sisters Celia, Lucy, Tillie, Juanita, and Celestina. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jerry, and sister Anita.
Services: A viewing will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Restland Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life, hosted by St. Augustine Catholic Church, will follow from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., with additional viewing until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Restland Memorial Chapel, followed by interment in the Garden of Compassion at Restland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Augustine Catholic Church “New Church Building Fund” in memory of Christina Martinez, 1054 N. St. Augustine Road, Dallas, Texas 75217.
Chris’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and friendship. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
