Christine Davidson Franklin's Obituary
Christine Davidson Franklin, born Marion Christine Davidson, lived a full and rewarding life of 92 years and 11 months. Born September 12, 1923 in Cedar Mills, Grayson County, Texas, Christine passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Richardson, Texas. Christine was the fourth of five children born to Frank Hugh Davidson and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Davidson. Her childhood years were spent in Gordonville, Texas and she graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1940. Married to Lloyd G. Franklin, April 6, 1945 in Durant, Oklahoma, they resided in Sherman and Richardson, Texas. Christine worked many years for J.C. Penney in Richardson. She particularly enjoyed her time as president of WMU and PTA in Sherman, loved singing and traveling with the Goldenaires of First Baptist Richardson and gleaned from the Bible studies and Sunday services offered by First Baptist Garland during her three years at Mayberry Gardens. Her hobbies included family, fellowship, gardening, genealogy, and especially serving others. Christine is survived by James R. Franklin and wife Mary, Michael W. Franklin and wife Merrilee, and daughter-in-law Angie Bannon, grandchildren Charles Franklin, Kimmerly Parker, Shawn Franklin, Jennifer Schenck and Michael Franklin. A wonderful legacy continues with fourteen great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a cherished brother, Joe Davidson and numerous nieces and nephews. Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lloyd Franklin, November 30, 1984, son, Charles Lloyd Franklin, granddaughter, Teresa Niven and siblings Hugh Davidson, Sybil McAden, and Pauline (Kitty) Meek. The family wishes to thank the numerous care givers and volunteers at Mayberry Gardens Garland and First Baptist Church, Garland. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10 AM at the Lake Pointe Church- Firewheel Campus. Internment will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 2 PM in the Restland Memorial Park, Court of Trinity. Should friends desire, contributions can be sent to: Friendship House 620 W.
