Christopher Grant Cousins' Obituary
Christopher was born in Houston, TX on November 11, 1970 at 3:26 AM. He then moved to Dallas at the age of three. Chris was born with an hearing impairment problem and other physical problems but was happy and content. Chris went to classes for the hearing impaired then enrolled at Stonewall Jackson Elementary School for the Deaf. He had a great experience there and learned some sign language. We then found Norte Dame School of Dallas for Special Needs Children where he attended for many years and Graduated. What a great experience for him and where he met his long time best friends. Chris had a great love for music, especially the Dallas Symphony and the Italian Tenors. Chris also had a great love for his Church. He went through ‘Conformation at Highland Park United Methodist Church and joined the Church and pledged his faith to God. He was active in The Youth Fellowship every Sunday evening. Christopher Died January 3, 2017 at 7:30 pm At Presbyterian Hospital from a heart that was just tired and lungs that were worn out. Praise the Lord that he is not struggling to breathe anymore. Chris was predeceased by his Grand Parents, Charles and Josephine Usry and Walter and Berniece Cousins, his Father Walter Henry Cousins, III. Chris is survived by his Mother, Jane Ann Usry Cousins and his Uncle, C. Richard Usry. Also his Great Aunt and Uncle, Dicky and George Soutter of Houston. Cousins, Susan Kunz, and husband Jeff of Houston, Sally Soutter of Florida and Sara Shirey and husband Les of North Carolina. Chris is also survived by his Aunt Cynthia Lodge and husband Jack of McKinney and their daughters, Laura and Lisa. Sometimes a special needs person will need to have an Adoptive Aunt or two and Chris was blessed to have several, Aunt Steph, Aunt Linda, Aunt Paula, Aunt Jennie and Aunt Trent Bird. Our family is especially grateful for the medical expertise, and kindness of the Nurses and Doctors during his three weeks at Presbyterian. What a great team they are. Thank you! Services for Chris will be on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Graveside service at Restland Cemetery at 11 :30 a.m. with a Memorial Service at Highland Park Methodist Church in Cox Chapel at 1: 00 in the afternoon with Reception following. In lieu of flowers, Chris’ family requests any donation to be made to The Special Needs Service at HPUMC % of Rev. Ramsey Patton, Minister, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75205. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
