Christopher A. Dyer's Obituary
Christopher Andrew Dyer, a lifelong resident of Arlington, TX, who had recently moved to Wimberley, TX, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 in Wimberley. Chris was born on January 11, 1979 in Ft. Worth, TX. He attended Arlington public schools: Dunn Elementary, Young Jr. High, and Martin High School, graduating in 1997. He played baseball and football while attending Dunn Elementary and was selected as pitcher in the Regional All-Star Game. During his public school years, Chris became highly involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1997. For many years thereafter he continued his involvement in scouting. Each summer at the Sid Richardson Scout Ranch in Decatur, TX, he would teach younger scouts the safety and skills of firing a shotgun. Following graduation from Martin High School, Chris enrolled at Tarrant Country Junior College and received an Advanced Architectural CAD Operator Certificate of Completion in May 1999. He then began work as a draftsman for Freese and Nichols Consulting Engineers. This was followed by an architectural draftsman position with the firm of Wells and Doak. Chris felt it was important to get a baccalaureate degree so he enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002. He received several academic awards for excellence and was president of the UTA Finance Society. Unfortunately health issues in his senior year prevented him from completing all his degree requirements. Over the years, through books and the internet, Chris acquired a tremendous knowledge of all aspects of firearms. He loved discussing in great detail the associated technicalities with anyone who would listen. Prior to his move to Wimberley in 2014, he worked at the Winchester Gallery Indoor Gun Range in Ft. Worth, TX for about three years. He was very much in demand as an instructor in the proper use and skills of handguns to individuals desiring to get their concealed handgun license. Chris was preceded in death by his mother Kandy Dyer and grandparents Dick and Tincie Dyer, Imogene and Clarence Hodgson. He is survived by his father Danny Dyer and stepmother Penny Dyer, Wimberley, TX; stepsister Cheryl Cox and husband Richard, Waco, TX; uncle Donald Dyer, Atlanta, GA; aunts/uncles Dyanne and Joe Beaupre, Coppell, TX; Kay and Ron Bechtel, Duncan, OK; Mary and Jay Brancich, Duncan, OK; and seven cousins. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243, 972-238-7111. Location and driving directions can be found at restlandfuneralhome.com. A burial service will follow the funeral services and visitation will follow interment.
