Chueng Sheng "John" Liao's Obituary
Chueng Sheng Liao, or John as many knew him, passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on August 13th, 1935, in Taichung, Taiwan, to May Ting and Bofong Sheen Ting, John lived a remarkable life marked by faith, love, and service.
A devout minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, John earned his Master's in Theology while residing in Taiwan. On December 27th, 1959, he married the love of his life, Betty. Their 65-year marriage was blessed with three children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
In 1982, John moved to Los Angeles, California, where he dedicated himself to serving the growing Chinese community. His ministry was characterized by profound servitude and love, touching countless lives through weddings, funerals, and various community services.
John was an avid tennis player; he always brought his enthusiasm and sportsmanship to the court. Tennis was not just a hobby for him; it was a way to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.
John's seashell collection was truly remarkable, reflecting his deep appreciation for nature's beauty. Over the years, he amassed thousands of seashells from various beaches around the world.
