Clara Louise "Tootie" Duval's Obituary
Clara Louise “Tootie” Duval (neè Johnson) died peacefully at her home in Dallas on Oct. 30 at the age of 80.Louise is survived by her husband, Charles Mark Duval, their children Mark Edward Duval, Laurie Duval Vaudreuil, and Kathryn Duval Liska, and nine grandchildren.Born to Reuben and Marie Johnson in Cameron, Texas, Louise graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Fine Arts. She married Charles Mark, a fellow University of Texas student, in 1963. She worked as a school teacher for the Texas State School for the Deaf, St. Mary’s School in Grand Prairie, Texas, and St. Elizabeth’s School in Oak Cliff, Texas. She was a talented artist, working primarily in the mediums of wood, paint, dollhouses, and quilting. She was president of the Dallas/Fort Worth Wood Carvers for six years. Louise was a passionate and devoted Catholic and belonged to St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Dallas for more than 40 years.A Rosary is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, with visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.. A Memorial Mass will follow at St. Rita’s on Thursday, Nov. 8 at noon. Funeral and graveside services will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron, Texas on Friday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. All who wish to celebrate Louise’s life and mourn her passing are welcome at these events.Condolences can be sent in the care of Restland. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice Services for their exceptional care in Louise’s final days.
