UPCHURCH, CLARA GRACE – 90, went home to be with the Lord March 18, 2012. Preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Grady; parents, Grace and Charles Snowden Fairless; sister, Helen; and brothers, Buddy and George. Survived by Ann Upchurch Clark (Ron), Scott Upchurch, Roger Upchurch (Lee), Max & Mary Ann Upchurch; and nieces and nephews. Clara was born in Rodessa, LA where she spent a happy childhood playing in the woods and developing a love of nature. Her teenage years were spent in Shreveport where she graduated from Fair Park High School. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Clara and Grady were married October 5, 1945 in Shreveport where their 3 children were born and where they lived a “Happy Days” life surrounded by family and friends. They moved to Richardson in 1956. Clara enjoyed her many years working at Children’s World. Some of the things she loved: church (Richardson East Church of Christ), family celebrations, children, especially John and Katie Clark, flowers, The Arboretum, trip to Hawaii, and visits to Roger and Lee in California. Most often heard about Clara: “She’s so sweet” and “She’s so funny” and she was! Special thanks to The Plaza at Richardson for their love and care this past year, her friend Peggy Michael, and First United Methodist Church of Richardson. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Visitation 6-8pm on Tues., March 20. Service 12:30pm on Wed., March 21 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
