Clarence Leon Gornto's Obituary
Clarence Leon Gornto our PawPaw passed peacefully from this life on September 20th, 2024. He was born on November 26th, 1934, to Julian Gornto and Leona Gornto in Brunswick Georgia. At the age of 3, he and his family moved to Ft. Worth Texas. He met the love of his life, Joyce Marie King at a meet and greet party through mutual friends in 1954 and they married on April 29th, 1955.
He and Joyce created a life and love together that endured the test of time. Married for over 69 years, their relationship gave us a real-life example of commitment and compassion through the good times and the bad. They stood by each other’s side and had a love any of us would be glad to emulate. They shared a love for painting and the visual arts. They created many beautiful pieces that hang in the halls of all of our homes and several public places. They had two sons, Gary Lynn Gornto and Darrell Ray Gornto. He shared with his boys a passion for the outdoors that has continued through generations.
An employee of Texas Instruments for over 30 years, a supervisor to some and a friend to all. He served in many roles and retired as a drawing control supervisor. He moved to McKinney Texas, where He and Joyce lived up until 2023.
Clarence had such a deep love for his family that stayed evident up until his very last day. He continued to make us smile even when we didn’t want to. He was good at that.
We take comfort in knowing that when he slipped away from us here he was greeted by family and friends in heaven waiting there. He knew Jesus, and he knew where his hope came from. With that we have peace in knowing we will see him again and that he is reunited with so many people he has loved along the way.
He was greeted in heaven by his Mother and Father, Leona and Julian Gornto, his brother, JC Gornto, his Son, Gary Lynn Gornto, his best friend, Ray Cash and many other friends he gained in his 89 years here.
He is survived by his Wife, Joyce Gornto. His Sister Joyce Cotharn, and her husband Seth Cotharn, His Son Darrell Gornto and his wife Brenda, His daughter-in-law Becki Schelling, his grandchildren, Dillon Gornto, Katie Gornto, and Ryan Gornto- wife Alicia Gornto, his great grandchild Jake Gornto, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He said he didn’t want tears but wanted a celebration, that celebration of life will be held at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas Texas, 75243 on the 26th of September 2024. His viewing will be held at 1 pm and a service will be held at 2 pm.
“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
