Mr Clarence Augusta Hanigan Jr.'s Obituary
Died October 19, 2007 on his 61st wedding anniversary. He was born on November 25, 1923 in Schenectady, New York. On December 12, 1941 he enlisted in the army and served in the South Pacific as a member of the 7th division, 32nd infantry, Company D throughout WWII. He married Edrese Rose Schroer on October 19, 1946 in Hurley, New Mexico. Clarence worked for Rober E. McKee General Contractors for 40 years as a construction superintendent. He worked on such projects as administrative buildings on the UTEP campus, Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA, the Delta Terminal at DFW, and Dallas Citty Hall. He was a leader of Boy Scout Troup 25 in El Paso, TX and earned the honor of Order of the Arrow. Upon retirement Clarence led a very active life with his wife, Edrese. He was a long time member and officer in the Dixie Chainers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed working on his Model T and Model A and was an active member of the Model T Ford Club of America. He had great fun touring and driving his cars. Clarence and his wife enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and he also volunteered at RHD Hospital for 20 years. He is survived by his wife Edrese, sons Edward C. Hanigan and wife Gayle of Haw River, N.C.; James A. Hanigan of Farmers Branch, TX; and daughter Susan Cumby and husband Rick of Mequite, TX; three grandchildren- Cara Cumby Garcia and husband Antonio of Parker, CO.; Beth Cumby Dalton and husband Brian of Mequite, TX; and Justin Hanigan and wife Ashley of Haw River, N.C.; three great grandsons–Nicholas and Cain Garcia and Grayson Hanigan. His extended family also includes nieces Mary and Linda Melancon. Carol Hess, Betty Seago and nephew Bobby Butcher. Visitation will be on the evening of Monday, October 23 followed by an 11:00a.m. memorial service for friends and family at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 12411 Templeton Trl, Farmers Branch Texas. Those desiring to honor his memory may make contributions in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
