Clarence Minor Jr.'s Obituary
Brother Clarence Minor, Jr., transitioned on September 25, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 67. Clarence was born on April 5, 1953, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to the proud parents of Clarence Minor, Sr. and Maudine Minor. He was the fifth of twelve children.
Clarence received Christ and was baptized at an early age, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. C. R. Redden, in Tallulah, Louisiana. In May, 2010, Clarence united with Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Lenoard O Leach, where he worked with his wife in the Hospitality Ministries faithfully until his death.
Clarence had several nicknames: Bird, to his friends, Buddy, to family, Pa, to his wife and others. He enjoyed fishing, sports, shooting pool, laughing and music. His favorite football team was the New Orleans Saints. He loved the Lord and service to Him.
Clarence received his elementary and high school education through the Madison Parish School Systems, in Tallulah, Louisiana. He graduated in 1971 from Reuben McCall High School, in Tallulah, Louisiana. He was honored to serve as class president of his graduating class.
After graduation, Clarence decided to serve our country. He joined the United States Air Force, in 1972. He ranked as a Sargent and received professional Fire Fighter training. Clarence continued his Fire Fighter training and education at Louisiana State University. He demonstrated through written and performance examinations his excellency and knowledge according to the National Standards Objectives and, therefore, received certification as a National Firefighter I, in 1979. Clarence worked as a professional Fire Fighter for Madison Parish Fire Department for twelve years, in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Clarence married the love of his life, Eilene Thomas, on June 23, 1983. To this union, one son was born. Clarence and his family moved to Dallas, Tx. In 1987, where he worked for City of Dallas Water Department, as a Field Collector for twenty-three years, retiring January, 2010.
Clarence was proceeded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Myrtlene Crews, Edna Crews Jackson and Patricia Crews.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Eilene Minor, three sons: Trumone Sims, wife (Cedra), Houston, Texas, Trumelle Sims, Tallulah, Louisiana, and Marion Marquise Minor (Mark), Seattle, Washington, step-daughter, Lateisha R. Thomas, Dallas, Texas, Eight siblings: Erma Lee Stroughter (Joe), Tallulah, Louisiana, Denise Cyprian (Sherman), Abita Springs, Louisiana, Jeanette Belton (Mark), Boutte, Louisiana, Michael Wayne Winston (Nikki), Tallulah, Louisiana, Minister Loria A. Robinson (Apostle Leroy), Tallulah, Louisiana, Dirrial Todd Winston, Jacksonville, Florida, Ray Charles Winston (Crystal), Joliet, Illinois, Cassie D. Hodges, Monroe, Louisiana. One uncle, Charles Winston, Chicago, Illinois., Two granddaughters, Tymbria L. Overton, Dallas, Texas, and Tylaria S. Thomas, Austin, Texas., A very, very special niece and nephew Toni T. Thomas and Brandon Manson, Dallas, Texas., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Clarence will be dearly missed by those he loved and loved him back.
