Claude Frederick McAlister Jr.'s Obituary
McAlister, C. Fred, Jr., Maj USAF (Retd) Fred was born January 29, 1924, in Dallas, Texas. He died October 11, 2010. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, C. Fred McAlister, Sr. & Willie Johnson McAlister. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maurine Martin McAlister; sons: Fred Martin McAlister of Mt Calm, Texas, and Michael McAlister and his wife, Gwen, of Dallas, Texas; one grandson: Trevor Michael McAlister, of Los Angeles, California. Fred served in WWII with the 43rd Bomb Group in the SW Pacific. He returned home after the war and with his father established A-1 Plumbing Service in 1945, which his son, Mike, still operates. Fred was a graduate of Crozier Tech High School and after his return from the war, continued his education at SMU where he became a member of the ROTC. Upon graduation, Fred was commissioned as an officer in the USAF (Res.) where he served until his retirement in 1983. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe and then later loved to travel in his beloved motor homes to enjoy the sights of the beautiful country he served. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 14, 2010 at DFW National Cemetery.
