Claudia Balser's Obituary
Claudia Melinda Balser, age 75, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2022. She will be sorely missed by her son, Keith Wesley Balser of Los Angeles, California and her daughter, Deanna Leigh Balser of Dallas, Texas, both whom she loved dearly. Claudia was with her partner in life, Tony Morrow with whom she shared many happy times along with his family and grandchildren.
She was born on May 15, 1947, in Odessa, Texas to her parents, Kathryn Leftwich Underwood and Claude Wesley Underwood, both deceased. She was the star ballerina in grade school and suffered through the Citrus Parade in Mission Texas, in a beautiful costume of poinsettia leaves and grapefruit seed straps with glitter created by her mother. Always a smile and wave.
After graduating from Gainesville, Texas High School in 1953, where she made life-long friends while active in various organizations, she attended North Texas University where she met Don Balser (deceased). They were married and were blessed with two children, Keith and Deanna Balser.
Claudia worked in the insurance industry for several years and retired to make major improvements to her home. She did everything from painting & redecorating the kitchen to standing on scaffolding to paint walls in the stairway! (And much more.) She was little, but she was mighty! She also found time to volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital and belonged to the neighborhood garden club. She was passionate about family and Civil War history. Her large group of girlfriends in Dallas brought her much joy.
She will be missed by her sister and husband, Kay and George Culp; nieces Karyn Schaubhut, Tracy Clark and nephew Buck Culp and all their families. Claudia loved to visit her cousins Ginger Herrmann, Dennis Hunt and wife Kathleen and Dede, Taylor and Tate Smith. We are sincerely grateful to friends and the Balser family who have given much support and comfort during this time of loss.
Services for Ms. Claudia Balser will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 21, 2023, in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
