Cleo Yahnig Bell's Obituary
Born in Pleasant Hill, TN on January 2, 1932. Died at home on March 18, 2015 surrounded by family. Predeceased by parents Albert W. and Carmen Gernt Yahnig, brother Edwin M. Yahnig, sister Eva M. Dunkelberg, and husband David R. Bell. Survived by her three children Charise F. Bell, John G. Bell and Katheryn Bell and her sister’s son Michael J. Hooven, and grandchildren Jared, Marlon, David, Renee, and Quinn. Reared in Allardt, TN, the community founded by her grandfather Bruno Gernt. Valedictorian at York Agricultural Institute. Graduated in 1953 Cum Laude from Lincoln Memorial University. Cleo spent the first four years of married life in France and Germany before arriving in Dallas, TX. She had a distinguished career there as a programmer and systems analyst. Her implementation of the code for ATM systems while employed at Republic National Bank was exacting and pioneering work. She ended her career supporting large databases at Sun Information Systems, later Andersen, where her obvious talents and exceptional memory were used to great effect. Cleo enjoyed gardening, crosswords, and reading, but especially loved hosting beautiful dinners for her extended family. She will be greatly missed. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
