Mrs Cleta Whitley Sorensen's Obituary
SORENSEN, CLETA WHITLEY, Died peacefully at home after a long battle with genetic liver disease. She was lifted by the prayers of those who could not be near and surrounded by those who held her dear. Born in Houston, TX September 17, 1934, Cleta moved to Dallas at the age of 12. She was a graduate of Hillcrest High School, Class of 1952. Cleta married Ted Cramer in 1952. They had four children and divorced in 1967. In 1968, Cleta remarried and moved to El Paso, TX with her new husband and children. She graduated from UTEP with a degree in Education and taught in the El Paso Schools. The family moved to Richardson in 1972. Cleta was a school teacher in the Richardson Schools from 1972 to 19__. Cleta loved teaching and often said the secret to her success was ‘You don’t have to be tough. You just have to be definite.’ After Retirement, Cleta worked for New York Life Insurance Co.; the Dallas Market Center and Frito Lay where she was the ‘Keeper of the Perfect Chip’. Cleta was happily married to Dale Sorensen from 2003 until her death. They enjoyed retirement with antiquing, cooking and road trips to Shreveport, LA. Cleta was one of the first 100 members of Lover’s Lane United Methodist Church where she served as a Minister’s Assistant in her youth and a Lay Speaker in her Senior Years. Cleta is survived by: her loving husband, Dale Sorensen; her Mother, Maye Whitley; Her three children, Cheri Cramer Stanwix and Tim Stanwix of The Colony, TX, John Cramer of Encinitas, CA and Nancy Cramer Gurevitz and Ted Gurevitz of Coppell, TX. She has two step-children. She has five Grandchildren who have always been the light of her life. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Restland Memorial Park. Flowers may be sent to Restland Funeral Home.
