Cletus Galen Bridges' Obituary
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel to celebrate the life of Cletus Galen Bridges, who passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. Cletus was born on April 12, 1923 in Enloe, Texas, and was closely connected to friends and family in Delta County for most of his life. During World War II he proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps. He was married to his wife, Maxine, for 71 years, and together they raised two daughters and five grandchildren. After retiring from a successful business career, he enjoyed life as a “gentleman farmer” on his land in Rockwall County. Many afternoons were spent with his numerous farm buddies trading stories and solving world problems. Cletus was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Bridges; parents, Odie and Flossie Bridges; and a brother, Elton Bridges. He is survived by his two daughters: Janet Lea Bridges and Cheryl Bridges Rubin (Harvey), his grandchildren: Joshua Lagersen (Jacqui), Elizabeth Farrell (Chris), Sarah Sherry (Leif), Rebekah Louis (Thomas), and Jack Rubin (Stephanie), and eleven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital. Cletus lived a simple life. He loved and was very generous to his daughters and grandchildren. He was especially proud of his great-grandchildren. In later life, Cletus faced many health challenges; however, he faced them with optimism and fortitude. His clever sense of humor brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He loved God, his family, his country,and his many friends. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
