Cleveland Dennis Lord's Obituary
Cleveland Dennis Lord, 80, of Oak Leaf, Texas, died on May 22, 2024, and went to meet his Savior. He had been struggling with his health and was ready to meet Jesus. He was surrounded by family the day before his death, and on the day his body surrendered, he had his wife and two of his three children by his side.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sharon Lord; and children, Elizabeth Beene and husband Rex Beene, son Michael Lord and wife Summer Lord, and daughter Deborah Lord and husband Alin. He had 8 grandchildren along with their spouses/fiancés, Courtney Pepe and husband Nathaniel, Maddie Beene and fiancé Josh, Zachary Beene and wife Julia, Hunter Beene and fiancé Faith; younger grandchildren, Samantha Lord, Wyatt Lord, Emerson Jula, Oliver Jula; and great grandson Pierce Pepe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Lord and Erma Lord, sister Gail Laubert, and brother Jack Lord. He had many nieces and nephews.
Dennis was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, and later the family moved to Dallas.
Dennis was introduced to his wife by his best friend, Mack Crutchfield. Dennis was 19 and Sharon was 16. For her it was love at first sight. She has continued that love for Dennis for almost 60 years. She always believed that they would grow old together. By the grace of God, they did, and their love leaves a legacy for the generation they created together.
Almost all of his life, he was self-employed, starting with his paper route at 14. He studied accounting at North Texas in Denton. Shortly after his marriage to Sharon, his father-in-law convinced him that he needed to quit college and work for him. After the company closed, Dennis began to establish himself more in real estate and banking. In the mid-80's, he helped establish a company called the Bumper Bowling with his son-in-law's parents, Bobby and Ramona Beene. They had a wonderful business, as well as great family connections. One of his greatest desires was to take care of his family.
His mother taught him about salvation through faith from the time he was a young boy, and Dennis accepted the Lord at an early age. He had his struggles, as we all do, but he loved the Lord until his last breath, even witnessing to a young man at the memory center shortly before his death. He was loved by many of the caregivers at the facility. He told his wife how good they were to him and constantly thanked them for his care.
