Clifford Combs' Obituary
Combs, Clifford Edward, age 86, of Ft. Worth, Texas passed away peacefully on 9/8/2011 at Garland, Texas. He was born on 12/2/1924 in Dallas, Texas to his parents, Robert and Ethel. Clifford was the one of six children. He married Nell Deets in Garland, Texas on Feb 11, 1950. They had 2 children. He attended Grand Prairie High School . He served in the Army for 3 years in the Pacific, earning a Bronze Service Star for the Luzon Campaign and a Victory Medal for WWII and other awards as a machine gunner. He was a longtime resident of Ft. Worth, Texas for 45 years and employed by Southland Corporation as a store manger for 20 years. He enjoyed classic movies and quality time with his grandchildren. Clifford will be remembered by his son, John Hulan Combs and daughter-in-law Beverly of Garland, Texas and son David Lynn Combs of Ft. Worth, Texas.. He is also survived by granddaughters Emily and Jennifer Combs of Garland, sisters Bess (Robert) Perryman of Arlington, Mattie Green of Waxahachie, and Dorothy Barr of Arlington.. Predeceased in death by Brothers Ervin Combs of Arlington, and Woodrow Combs of Gladewater. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life for Clifford at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17 at First Baptist Church Garland Chapel. Burial will be at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. In Lieu of flowers may be sent or donations given in his name to the First Baptist Church Garland Recreation Ministry or FBC Friendship House.
