Clyde R. Cannon, Jr.'s Obituary
Clyde Raymond Cannon Jr. of Quinlan, Texas, passed away September 29, 2017, at the age of 91. He was born May 15, 1926, to Clyde and Oma (Casey) Cannon in Murchison, Texas. Clyde served in the US Navy as a Coxswain V6 in Pearl Harbor after the bombing and was accredited with 22 months of sea duty aboard the USS Monitor (LSV-5), American and Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaigns and the World War II Victory. Clyde married Dorothy Jean Buckelew on November 9, 1946 in Silverton, Texas and it was a union blessed by God’s grace.Clyde worked many jobs in his career, from working in the oil fields to managing a service station, from driving a truck for Safeway to auto paint and body technician, in which he retired and moved to Quinlan to work on what he loved the most, family, friends and fishing.Clyde was presided in death by his wife Dorothy in 2005; Sisters, Muriel and husbands Tom Buckelew and Bill Huddleston, Dot and husband Hershel “Runt” Lockwood and Glenda Cannon; brothers, Jeff Cannon, Billy Cannon, Bobby Cannon; brother in law, Bill Shaw; daughter in laws, Shirley Cannon and Patricia Cannon;Clyde leaves behind his sister, Opal Shaw; sister in laws, Nell Cannon and Liz Cannon; sons, Virgil and wife Linda Cannon, James and wife Jodie Cannon, Gary and wife Dana Cannon, all of Quinlan, Texas, and Raymond and Wife Sheri Cannon of Forney, Texas; grandchildren, Rebecca and husband Robert Wheat, Belinda and husband Russell Knight, Clayton Cannon, Jason Cannon, Jennifer Cannon, Rachael Cannon, Brandi and husband Josh Southers, Lisa Cannon and Raymond Cannon Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jordan Wheat, Allison Wheat, Ryan Knight, Janna Knight, Joshua Southers Jr., Faith Southers, Alissa Southers, Zachary Southers, Ashlynn Canada and Nicholaus Canada; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.The family will be present for viewing on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:30 pm, at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park.
