Clyde Lee Denham's Obituary
Clyde Denham was born on January 24, 1930 in Throckmorton, Texas and passed away on September 30, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Pearl Denham, his brothers, Otto, Guy, Ed, Ernie and Marvin and his sisters, Blanche Hughes and Jo McCarson. Clyde served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and while serving in Wisconsin, he met and married Millie Ann Schwecke. He attended and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1957 with an accounting degree. He then moved to Richardson, Texas where he worked for Richardson Savings and Loan, Collins Radio, Trammel Crow, S & S Properties and Westwind Properties. He practiced accounting in the Real Estate Development industry for most of his career, and in retirement, he continued to work part time until he became ill. Clyde was an athlete who excelled at football, basketball and baseball. He earned a scholarship to play baseball at Murray State and basketball at North Texas State. In his adult years, he was an avid golfer and played tennis. Clyde was a sports enthusiast and a true Texas Rangers fan. He loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and spent many hours on the sidelines cheering for them. He was a voracious reader preferring historical books about the United States and Texas, and he was very proud to be an American and a Texan. Clyde loved to travel and enjoyed photography. His garden was known far and wide. His grandchildren have fond memories of harvesting each year. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson for 56 years. He was loved by his family and will be missed more than words can express. Clyde is survived by: his wife, Millie; three daughters, Allison Doyle, Leslie Mitchell and Susan Whitehead; sons-in- law, David Doyle, Albert Mitchell and Rich Whitehead; grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan, Connor and Megan Doyle, Cassidy and Dillon Whitehead; and 2 sisters, Lois McCarson and Peggy Bibb. visitation for Clyde will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Clyde will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 04, 2014 in The main Sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, 503 North Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Network of Community Ministries or First United Methodist Church, Richardson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
