Clyde Warren Smith's Obituary
SMITH, CLYDE was born in Caradan, TX to Leslie & LaCoina Hightower Smith, on April 2, 1921. He finished high school at Mullan, TX while living with his grandmother Smith. He went one year to John Tarleton College at Stephenville, TX. In early 1941, he joined the CCC in Dallas and served at White Rock Lake. In October 1941, he joined the Marines and served in the Pacific Occupation fighting for three years. After coming back to the states, while on furlough, he and Dorothy Winell Gatlin were married on December 17, 1944. They lived in Corpus Christi and San Diego until he was discharged. On January 19, 1946 a son, Jimmie Warren was born and on March 4, 1949 a daughter, Terry Kay was born. In 1946 he went to work for Taylor Publishing Co. and there he worked in different supervisory position until his retirement in 1983. After retiring from Taylor’s he worked at different jobs, but his love of woodworking was his main enjoyment, making things to give his friends and family and playing 42. For the last ten years, his four dogs were his companions. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Surviving Clyde is his wife, Dorothy W. Smith of 66 years; son, Jimmie W. Smith and wife Linda of Carrollton, TX; daughter, Terry K. Wall and husband Tom of San Augustine, TX; granddaughters, Shannon Smith, Leslie Munizza and husband Chris; Regina Sugg and husband Jamie; grandson, Randy Wall and wife, Chelsea; great-granddaughters, Crystal Williams and Ashleigh Sugg and great-grandsons Turner Sugg, Rocco Munizza and Xander Wall. And last a host of nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Betty Jean Williams. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., December 30, 2010, at Rylie Road Church of Christ, 10240 Rylie Rd., Dalls, TX. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. at the church building. Steve Weeks, minister, will be holding the service.
