Coleman Glen Looper's Obituary
Coleman Glen Looper, lovingly known as "Cole" or "Loop," passed away on March 30, 2025, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 96. He was born on February 15, 1929, in Celina, Texas.
Coleman attended Crozier Tech High School in Dallas before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1946. Following an honorable discharge in 1948, he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, where he began working for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft while also studying mechanical engineering at Santa Monica City College.
In 1961, Coleman and his family relocated to Richardson, Texas, where he owned and operated the Donut Derby in Richardson Heights Village. A dedicated member of his community, he was actively involved in the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and served as President of the Richardson Jaycees. After his time in the donut business, Coleman returned to aviation, working for LTV Corp. before transitioning to Monfield in Garland, Texas—a predecessor to Raytheon Corp.—where he served as a manager of operations. He later worked for Brinkmann Corporation in Dallas, overseeing all plant operations until his retirement in 1998.
Coleman married the love of his life, Patty Lou Peters, and together they shared over 50 wonderful years. They were blessed with three daughters, Debbie Looper Hill (Skip) of Anna, TX, Michele Looper Hibbs (Jeff) of Rowlett, TX, and Bonnie Looper Shea (Nathan) of Parker, TX. Coleman’s legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Nicholas Hibbs (Jamie), Jenni Hill, Caycee Holt (Hunter), Courtney Redding (Jeremy), Allie Hickey (Payton), Coleman Hibbs (Lauren), and McKenzie Quinn (Josh), as well as his 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty Lou Looper, his parents, his grandparents, his sister Dorothy Clark, and his nephew Michael Clark.
Coleman lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for faith, farming and ranching, horse racing, gambling, and playing craps and dominoes. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Sherill Park Golf Club Seniors Team in Richardson. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his ever-growing family. Coleman will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
