Colin Matthew Martin's Obituary
Colin Matthew Martin was born July 27, 1983, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and died January 31, 2026, in Rochester, New York.
Colin, the dearly loved son of John and Kathryn Martin, was smart, funny, a magnet for friends, and, from an early age, had extraordinary insight into human nature. He loved music and was an excellent guitarist. Because of his father's profession, Colin lived in Dallas, Texas, McPherson, Kansas and Rochester, New York.
He made an indelible impression in each of those places where he made friends, attended church, and played sports. In high school, Colin was an outstanding wrestler and football player. He was the Sectional Heavyweight Wrestling Champion in the Western New York region in his junior and senior years.
Colin organized many bands and loved making music with friends. Most people think of Colin and music at the same moment as it was his passion. He spent many hours writing music and lyrics. His compositions took up much of the space on his computer.
Colin was mechanically gifted. His plumbing skills, his ability to put anything together without reading the instructions, as well as his natural sales ability provided him with career opportunities and success.
Colin's brothers, Christopher Martin of San Antonio, Texas, Cameron Martin of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kyle Martin of Dallas, Texas have many memories of family vacations, dinners around the big dining table, and many life activities. Laughter punctuates all those memories.
Colin is survived by his parents, his brothers, and his cousin Helen Barton who is like a sister to him. In addition, he is survived by Helen's husband Caleb Barton, Sister-in-Law, Nancy Martin, and nieces, Shiloh Martin, Lily Martin and Emery Barton and nephews, Jack Martin, Thomas Martin, Seth Martin and Milo Barton.
Also, he is survived by extended family members including aunts and uncles, and many loving cousins including Alan Smith, James Smith, Sarah Bridge, Dottie Sumners, Tim Sumners, Bethany King, Robin Thullesen, Whitney Sumners, and Amy Rincker.
The family especially thanks his dear friend, Kristy Rapone, and her family for all of the help during this difficult time. Following a family committal service, a memorial service for Colin will be held February 28, 2026, at Restland's Wildwood Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Following the service, a reception will be held at noon at the Event Center at Restland.
