Colleen Hartley's Obituary
Colleen Damron Hartley, 90, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020. Colleen was born in Williamson, West Virginia on December 14, 1929 to Grace (Amburgy) and George W. Damron, Jr.
She grew up in Dingess, West Virginia where she graduated from high school in 1947. Colleen went on to graduate from Marshall University with an education degree in the spring of 1951.
On February 17, 1951, Colleen married the love of her life, Robert C. Hartley. They were married 65 years before his passing in 2015.
Colleen was a passionate educator in Richardson ISD for over 30 years, teaching Physical Education at both Northlake and Mohawk elementary schools. She loved her students and said she couldn't believe that she got to play all day.
Colleen is survived by her loving family; daughter, Lisa Hartley Bettis; son, Kendal Hartley and his wife, Cindy. She was a Nana to Turner Bettis and wife, Shelley, Hartley Bettis Haynes and husband, Marcus, Katie Hartley Broussard and husband, Stephen, Davis Hartley, Karleigh Hartley and her great grandchildren, Vivian, Robert and Major Haynes. She is also survived by her sister, Gene Gleim, niece Gere Gleim, nephew Greg Gleim as well as many extended family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, June 5th at 10:00 am at Restland, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. The service will be held outside to account for social distancing. Masks are requested to be worn.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Richardson at 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 75080.
