Colleen LaPree's Obituary
It is with reverence and deep gratitude for her life and person that we inform you of Ms. Colleen LaPree’s passing into God’s loving embrace this March, 2026.
Colleen is survived by her two brothers: David and Gerald; her 4 children: Stacey, Sherry, Danielle and Darren; 6 grandchildren: Amanda, Andrew, Rachel, Bradley, Chandra and Jayden; plus 6 great-grandchildren, a gaggle of nieces and nephews, and the many friends-turned-family she collected along the way.
After a lifetime of servitude, gratitude and grace, we can be sure that Colleen is celebrating in heaven with her late-husband, Jerry Cook, her mother Betty Jane, her Sister Dawn Janet, and her savior, Jesus of Nazareth.
Colleen was born and raised in Dallas, TX. She graduated from South Oakcliff Highschool, and (save for a few years in Oklahoma and Arkansas) remained in Texas throughout her life.
She found success in her life-long career at NorthPark Management Company, but her pride and joy were the forever-friends she gained. She retired, but didn’t slow down, at Lake Kiowa, TX, where she learned to golf, traveled the USA and overseas, joined clubs, hosted many a “wine-night” and somehow tripled her already extensive friend’s list.
She loved to dance, and to be by the water. She loved to tell stories and reminisce. She loved and lived for her family and friends. She cooked wonderful meals that will be missed. She danced often, and laughed even more. She was fiery, resilient, empathetic, consistent, humble, kind, classy, and so many more things. She will be missed, dearly.
We honor all of these things within her at a Celebration of Life on March 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM, at Restland Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory (Dallas, TX; the “Abbey chapel”)
Colleen asked that any donations in her name be made to St. Jude’s or Shriner’s Children.
