Constance Jean Kehler's Obituary
Constance Jean Kehler
Born: Shamokin, PA, December 12, 1926
Died: Dallas, TX, May 4, 2022
Connie was raised in Manchester, Connecticut, by her parents Tim and Robin Kehler. Despite living in Dallas County for over 60 years, she always considered herself a New Englander. She developed her life-long love of music in Manchester, learning both piano, and drums. At 13, she won an audition to perform on her trap set with Gene Krupa and his band. Her favorite music was Big Band Swing. Her favorite singers were Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darrin.
She graduated from the University of Connecticut, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She faithfully followed the UConn Huskies basketball teams every year since leaving New England.
Sailing overseas after WWII, she performed as a singer on the cruise ship taking her to Germany. After a short stay in Europe, she followed her parents when they moved to Texas. She may have been a Yankee, but her favorite restaurant was Whataburger!
A member of University Park United Methodist Church since the 1950’s, she could be seen in the front pew on Sundays with mother Robin, and sisters Emma Lou, and Joyce. The Kehler women taught the 3-year-old Sunday School Class at UPUMC for 30 years.
Her business career was as head of Human Resources of the Southern Union Company, but her true career was that of “Super-Aunt”. After the death of Joyce’s husband in 1960, she helped raise Tim and Kevin. She never missed a game, concert, play, piano recital, accompanying band contest solos, or the chance to help out any way she could. Nephews Tim and Kevin Kelly, niece Jenny Kelly, and godchild Katy Barklow Abel are very grateful for her love and support over the years.
Connie sought, and found, good in every person she met, and every person she met loved her.
