Consuelo Pena Bates' Obituary
Consuelo Peña Bates died peacefully Dec. 16, 2018 in Dallas at the age of 94. Consuelo, known as Connie to her friends and ‘Meemo’ to her great-grandson, was born Jan. 6, 1924 to Manuel and Rafaela Peña in Laredo, Texas.She worked as a loan officer and spent most of her married life in Brownsville. In later life, Connie moved to San Antonio, and then Dallas to be near her only daughter and granddaughter.Meemo is survived by her daughter Nora Saenz Clark of Dallas, her granddaughter Shelby Clark Skrhak, and husband John Martin Skrhak, III of Plano, and her great-grandson John Martin Skrhak, IV, also of Plano. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces Roman Treviño (and wife Lucinda) of Pearsall, TX, Rick Treviño of Alexandria, VA, Elsie Treviño of San Antonio, Elena Ibarra of Laredo, Elvira Ibarra Fitzgerald (and husband Tom) of Chicago, Humberto Peña Jr., Amalia Peña Fuller, other nephews and nieces, and numerous great-nephews and -nieces.She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse Jack Bates, former spouse Joe Cisneros Saenz, siblings Julio Peña, Guadalupe Peña Ibarra, Humberto Peña, Virginia Peña Trevino, niece Elisa Ibarra Rodriguez, nephews Eduardo Ibarra and Jose Manuel Peña, son-in-law Anthony Roy Clark, and other Peña and Saenz family.A memorial mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Drive in Dallas. Rosary will precede mass at 10:15 a.m. Interment at Restland Cemetery will follow at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Tri Nguyen, caregivers at Comfort Home Health, especially nurse Tonya Huto, Pat Ikechukwu, and Derrick Abraham, and nurses at T.
