Coronacion Amores Zarzuela's Obituary
Coronacion Amores Zarzuela, a longtime Dallas, Texas resident, passed away on
December 28, 2025. She was 79 years old, born June 13, 1946, in Manila, Philippines,
as the eighth of nine children, to Herculana and Apolinar Zarzuela.
She earned her Associates in Medical Secretarial Science in 1975, from Martinez Memorial Colleges, in Coloocan City. Shortly afterward, she arrived in the United States of America, where she worked and helped care for her brother’s and sisters’ many children.
She later became a proud U.S. citizen in 1984. Whether she was working at the hospital or for the school district, her main passion was for her family. Never having married or having kids of her own, all the cousins, 2nd cousins, grand-cousins, and more would always turn to their “Tita Nona” as their second mother. In that respect, she was mother to over two dozen kids in the span of over sixty years.
Nona was a welcoming spirit. At her house on Lovett, it was a main hub of activity for
the family, and her door was always open. From those mornings after overnight hospital shifts to those afternoons after class, she was a blessing and comfort to those in need of a cup of coffee, an afternoon pastry, and an ear to those who needed someone to just listen.
Nona passed on the 28th of December, which laid a few days after her favorite holiday,
Christmas. Her house was always adorned with decorations and song. She would sing
carols while performing chores and tasks.
She loved to give, even when things were tight. She mostly loved to make the children happy on the day the family gathered, to see our eyes brighten from the gifts she brought and from the smile on her face.
She was a woman of many interests who enjoyed life, laughter, and the love from her
family and friends. Nona will be always treasured by her loved ones and her imprint on
their lives will endure forever.
An invitation for family and friends to join us in honoring the life and memory of our
beloved Tita Nona at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX,75243,
on Friday January 9, 2026, at 10:30AM at the Wildwood Chapel.
