Crystal Lynn Burris' Obituary
Crystal Lynn Burris, aged 81, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2025. Born on November 9, 1943 at Methodist Hospital in Dallas to Hubert and Mary Autry, Crystal grew up in Oak Cliff surrounded by extended family and many friends. She was extremely proud to call herself a Native Texan.
After graduating from W.H. Adamson Highschool, she attended the IBM Key Punch School and soon got a job with an insurance company. It was there where she met David Burris when he came to her company to observe some Data Processing machines. They began dating and were married on April 13, 1970. Crystal dedicated her life to the care of her family and was never happier than when she was with her siblings and cousins, along with their families, drinking coffee and playing 42.
Crystal enjoyed sewing, painting, tatting, reading and working in her yard. She loved animals and was never without a pet or two, or three. She was most famous among her nieces and nephews for her pet squirrel, Skippy, and her Yorkie named Lulu.
Crystal was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richardson, TX, and had many happy memories of friendships and fun while raising her children alongside her church family. Later in her life she had the blessing of attending with her granddaughter, Casey, who was the pride and joy of her life. They were two peas in a pod.
Crystal leaves behind her husband of 55 years, David Burris; her daughter, Leah Jennings and son-in-law John; her granddaughter, Casey Jennings; and her son, John Burris along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Autry, and her brothers, Joe Gene and Gary Autry.
A service to celebrate Crystal’s life will be held on June 18, 2025, in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland. Crystal's life was a testament to her loving and creative spirit, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
