Col. Curtis Dudley Fish Sr.'s Obituary
Col. Curtis D. Fish, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully Nov. 2, 2015. Services to include viewing at Restland Funeral Home, Friday, Nov. 6th, memorial held at First Baptist Richardson, Nov. 7th 10:30a, followed by burial Monday, Nov. 9th at 1pm at DFW National Cemetery, full military honors. Fish was born Jan. 6, 1927 in Star City, Ark, son of Curtis Wayne and Effie Vick Fish. He was drafted during World War II, served proudly in the Pacific, and returned after war to graduate from Oklahoma A&M in 1951. Compelled to continue military service, he returned as a 2nd LT to serve during the Korean War. Becoming part of the Military Counterintelligence, he served in Viet Nam ultimately rising to lead the Military Intelligence Group in 5Th Army. He retired as Colonel at Ft. Sam Houston in 1974. In the fall of ’74, Fish founded the Jr. ROTC program at Plano ISD, retiring as Director of Army Instructor January 1996. Devoted to his wife, Jean, and his family, Fish spent his retirement as an entrepreneur, Rainbow Engraving, and with travel. Col. Fish is preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his brother, Dr. Roy Fish, sister Betty Cable, and a grandson, Jay Fish. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Doris Nelson, his children Curtis D. Fish, Jr. (Barbara), Dr. Melton Fish (Kimberly), Jim Fish (Cindy), Julie Fish Jeffrey (Duane), and his grandchildren Mitchell Fish, Jessica Fish, Tori Fish, Coleman Fish, Kara Fish, Mike Fish, and Laura Fish. His stepchildren, Brian Fant (Alice), Carol Fant, and Julie Fant Tharp (Tommy), their children, Jonathan Fant (Kristin), Preston Fant, Emily Tharp, and Matthew Tharp, and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 from 7:00PM – 8:30PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church, Richardson, TX. Burial at DFW National Cemetery, Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) in memory of Col.
