Cynthia Alice Berry's Obituary
Cynthia Alice Berry, age 74, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Denver, Colorado, after a full life of vibrant curiosity and love. Alice was born on May 9th, 1945 in Dallas, Texas, where she lived with her parents John and Sarah Read, and (briefly) her grandparents Annie and Guy Berry. She attended W.W. Samuell High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Pomona College, in California. At various times, she was a Montessori teacher, potter, paralegal, architect, real estate agent, healer, and founder of a Southeast Asian import business. However, her role as mother, and subsequently grandmother, was most important to her.An avid traveler, Alice explored numerous countries throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America, with her family and on solo excursions. She lived in Vienna, Austria; Munich, Germany; and New York before settling in Denver with her (then) husband and children. No matter where she found herself, she always reveled in the art, music, and natural beauty of her surroundings. She enthusiastically shared her passion for discovery with those around her, and always had the most beautiful garden on the block. Her curiosity about the mysteries of life placed her ahead of her time regarding many topics of alternative health and social justice.Alice will be deeply and sincerely missed by her loving family and her friends, and all the individuals who knew and loved her. She was fierce and passionate about life and made a distinct impression on all with whom she crossed paths. She is survived by her daughter, Emily; her son, Topher (Yiyo); two beloved grandchildren, Sofia and James; two brothers, Greg (Debbie) and Mark (Adelle): three half-sisters and the extended Berry, Read and Slater families that she cherished.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 S. Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX. 75243.Gifts and condolences may be sent to the above address c/o Cynthia Alice Berry.
