Ms. Cynthia Tiner Johnson's Obituary
Cynthia Ann, daughter of Lewis Guy Tiner and Gwendolyn Elizabeth Tey Tiner,
grew up in old east Dallas and later made a final move to settle in north Dallas. The
highlights of her lifetime entail Rainbow Girls, playing the piano, horses, reading
mysteries, writing stories, receiving a degree in Criminal Justice, working for the
Dallas Police Department, country western music and dancing, old romance and
Disney movies, The State Fair of Texas and the Dallas Summer Musicals, playing
cards, good Mexican food, receiving her Masters in education, science, time with
friends after a full day or week of teaching, and most of all time with what she calls
her “pride and joy,” those who call her Yaya; her “first born” son Quentin Johnson,
wife Ally, and son Graham Lewis, her “middle child” son Brent Johnson, wife Julia,
and sons Jeremy Bryce and Brian James, and her “baby of the family” Taira
Zimmerer, husband Mark, and daughters Olivia Elizabeth and Poppy Eleanor.
During the beginning of her marriage to their father, she built a close relationship
with Vance Johnson, and to close out her final years on earth, they rekindled their
mother-son relationship along with Vance’s wife Kristie, son Chase, and daughter
Haley. She truly was a mom to many, a friend, a confidant; and on May 1, 2023, she
became a daughter of the Lord. Although this may be goodbye, on this side of heaven,
her memories will live on for a lifetime.
