Cynthia Flynt Standfield's Obituary
Cynthia Flynt Standfield passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018 at the age of 67. Born in Dallas, Texas on November 26, 1951, the daughter of Woody and Joan Flynt. Cynthia was eldest of siblings Robby Flynt, Shari Ann Williamson, and Richard Nathan Flynt. Cynthia grew up in Richardson, Texas and Arlington, Texas. She resided in Garland, Texas for 44 years.While attending North Texas State University in 1972, Cynthia met Stan Standfield. Cynthia and Stan were married on January 1, 1974 in Maypearl, Texas. Their daughter, Melinda Amber (Bruce), was born in 1981, and their son, Matthew Ryan, was born in 1983.After college, Cynthia began teaching math in public schools. In 1985, Cynthia began her career in computer instruction. Cynthia taught computer education for several years at Dallas County Community College District. While at DCCCD, Cynthia wrote computer software instruction manuals that were used in DCCCD courses. From 1996 to 2010 she was a computer instructor at Southern Methodist University.Cynthia graduated from Arlington High School in 1970. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in math and secondary education at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1976 and her Master’s degree in Education Technology at East Texas State University in 1993.Cynthia was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was intelligent and kind and cared passionately about her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed computer related activities, genealogy, reading, and volunteered with numerous organizations. She was a long time member at Richland UMC in Richardson, TX and First UMC Garland, TXCynthia is survived by her husband, Stan Standfield, daughter, Melinda Bruce and husband Steven of Sachse, TX, son, Matthew Standfield and wife Jennifer of Farmersville, TX, grandson, Jacob Bruce and granddaughter, Clara Standfield, brother, Robby Flynt and wife Becky of Georgetown, TX, sister, Shari Williamson of Norman, OK, and brother Richard Flynt and wife DeeDee of Mansfield, TX, along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephewsA visitiation will be on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM at 1st United Methodist Church in Garland.
