Cyril Hartwell Heselton's Obituary
Cyril Hartwell Heselton, of Richardson TX, passed away January 12, 2018. Cyril was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born August 3, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Cyril L. and Lucille Heselton. He grew up in Flossmoor, Illinois, and graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1951, where he was on the golf and swim teams. He graduated from Illinois College in 1956 with a degree in Economics.He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-62, where he gained a Clinical Psychology Specialty and earned Marksman honors. He married Lynette Gore on December 3, 1960. Cyril spent his career in banking, having worked for Mercantile National Bank and Plano Bank & Trust. He graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU in 1975. Cyril was also a regular speaker at and teacher of banking education programs sponsored by the American Institute of Banking. Cyril had a life-long passion for all sports, particularly swimming. He swam competitively for much of his life. He was a member of the Dallas Aquatic Masters where he competed on the Senior Team from 2000-2011, earning numerous gold medals. In 2006, he achieved the fastest time in the nation in the 1500 Meter Freestyle in his age group. Cyril was an active member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church (LLUMC). He received the 2016 Heritage Award from LLUMC for his valuable service and contributions for over 50 years. Cyril is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lynette, son David Heselton and wife Caryl, daughter Ellen Lethe and husband David, grandchildren Andrew Heselton and wife Nina, Allie Heselton, Daniel Lethe and Mary Caroline Lethe.A memorial service will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Saturday, January 20, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home.If desired, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or LLUMC.
