Daisy Frank Wight's Obituary
Born January 24, 1930, in Canton, Texas to Henry Frank and Ina Alverta Foster Wilburn. Died March 29, 2010, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, Tyler, Texas. Moved to Dallas, Texas in 1946. In 1950 she began her career with the Dallas Police Department as a secretary. She was the Head of Fiscal Affairs a number of years before retiring in 1983. She married John Gardner Wight in 1954. John preceded her in death in 1976- almost 32 years to the date Daisy joined him. “God looked around his garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the eart, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s Garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb So he closed your weary eyelids, And he whispered ‘Peace by thine.’ It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you The day God called you home.” Daisy is survived by her daughter, Janice Gail and husband Thomas W. Blanton; a grandson, Hunter Wight Blanton, all of Austin, Texas. Two sisters, Wandalee Usrey and Delana Cook, both of Canton, Texas. One neice, Wanda Carroll and husband Clifford E. Robison of Lindale, Texas. One great-niece, Amanda Merrilee and her husband Jeffery Wayne Luther of Brownsboro, Texas. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Dallas Police Widows and Orphans Fund.
