I had my final EE class under Dr Byrne. I remember him fondly. A small group of EMAG II students (me included) would sometimes find ourselves at a nearby Appleby's after that evening's class, talking about our college and work "war stories". During that semester in 1991 he came under personal stress that made him very unhappy. I never found out what it was, but from recent checking, it seems he found his way again. I am happy about that.
I think of Dr Byrne from time-to-time and was tracking him down when I ran across his obituary. He was really the only professor I had a relationship outside of the classroom. I worked with him on my Sr. design project. He was always available to discuss things and we even went our for beer a couple of times. He helped me through a stressfull time in my life (divorce, getting laid off and trying to finsh my degree all during the summer of '94). He was a good man.
We are so sorry to hear about Dale. We went to high school together & have kept in touch over the years! Dale was such a wonderful friend. He will be missed! Our prayers of sympathy and comfort are with Dee & Timothy and with Carol!
