Dale Taylor Cox's Obituary
Dale Taylor Cox, 87, of Irving, Texas, died on June 13, 2020, at his son’s home in Plano, TX, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born January 14, 1933, to Isaac Crawford Cox and Laura Irene (Taylor) Cox in Abilene, TX. After attending Texas Tech University and serving in the Air Force from 1954-1956, he settled in the Dallas area to work and attend graduate school at Southern Methodist University. As a young man, he met the love of his life at Edgefield Church of Christ. He described how he looked across the auditorium one Sunday evening in the late 1950’s and saw Katherine Goins. He set his cap for her at that very moment, and on August 30, 1963, they were married at Edgefield. Dale worked as a mechanical engineer throughout his professional career and only fully retired at the age of 82. He was especially proud of having worked on the Scout rocket, developed by Chance Vought Aircraft for NASA. A man of few words, Dale enjoyed old cars, old radio shows, model airplanes, motorcycles, science fiction, dogs, and Texas Tech. Dale adored his wife and his family. Baptized at the age of 15 and a daily student of the Bible, Dale was a faithful member of Beltline Church of Christ in Irving, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Katherine Cox, of Irving; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Cox (Lily) of Irving and Michael Cox (Susan) of Plano; brother, Roy Cox of Arlington; grandsons, Micah Cox of Richardson and Andrew Cox of Plano; and nieces, Cathy Howard (Fred) of Burbank, CA, and Christi Wilson (Shannon) of Arlington.
