Dale Tackitt Wingo's Obituary
Wingo, Dale Tackitt , 77, of Richardson TX died on June 1, 2014. Dale, son of Wade and Nettie Adelle Wingo, loving father, passed away peacefully with his love, Jackie Holmes, at his side after complications from COPD and Alzheimer’s. He is survived by Jackie; son, Walter Wingo, and several stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He earned his Master’s degree in Physics at the University of North Texas. Dale worked as an optical engineer for Texas Instruments and MCI. In his research and development role at TI, Dale was instrumental in developing LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) used in the first digital watches and calculators. He was also very proud of his work with the eye of the Hubble Telescope. A colleague at MCI lauded Dale as a pioneer in fiber optics who helped build the network at MCI. Dale had a brilliant and fertile mind as an inventor and held several patents. He also enjoyed camping and was an active leader in the local Boy Scouts of America troop while his stepsons, David and Jay Pollock, were scouting ages. Dale will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 04, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 12:30 PM on Thursday, June 05, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
