Dalton Eugene " Gene" Cornelius' Obituary
Dalton “Eugene” Cornelius went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. A devoted husband and father, he leaves his wife of 61 years, Rebecca Cornelius; his son, Steven Cornelius and his wife Christy; son Mark Cornelius; and daughter Julie Phillips and her husband Mark; grandchildren Shane, Blake, Jaclyn, Chris, Andrea, Adam, Nathan and Rebekah; and great-grandchildren Angelina, Parker-Avery, Conner, Presley, Parker-Ryan, Landon, Adalynn and Ian. He resided in Mesquite, Texas for fifty-five years. He was born in Eustace, Texas on December 10, 1937 to Cecil Cornelius and Daphine Hutchison Cornelius. He is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lee Cornelius and survived by a sister, Jo Ann Stone and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Eugene spent his life working in the printing industry. He retired from Dallas Independent School District in 2011, having worked in the Graphics Department. He was a long-time member of King of Glory Assembly of God Church (formerly Urban Park Assembly of God) where he served as an usher. In his earlier years, he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Pee Wee Football in his community for many years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling and camping. The Colorado Rocky Mountains and Branson, Missouri were two of his favorite travel destinations. After retiring he had taken on the hobby of photography and was learning visual arts computer skills. Visitation will be held from 3:00PM-5:00PM, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home. Service for Gene will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at King of Glory Assembly of God located at 3700 N Jim Miller Rd Dallas, TX 75227 at 11:00 AM, followed by an Interment at 2:00 PM at Restland Memorial Park in Chapel Gardens. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
