Dane Keith Hatchett's Obituary
On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Dane Hatchett, our beloved husband, son, brother and uncle went to be with the Lord at age 64 after battling kidney cancer.
Dane was born on January 1, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arlon and Robbie Hatchett. He attended Hillcrest High School and Southern Methodist University before entering a 40-year sales career in the computer equipment business.
Dane and Michelle Metzger were married on February 9, 1991. They loved golden retrievers, and rescued and raised over a dozen pups over the years, including Rex, Goose, and Khaki today.
Dane was passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ. He attended First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas where he served in various roles including Director for the Band of Brother’s Bible Study Group. Dane’s faith in the Lord provided him and those who loved him with peace and comfort throughout his struggle with cancer.
Dane loved the Lord, his wife and family, his dogs, his country, first responders, conservative politics, and the freedom he felt riding his Harley Davidson. Dane also loved ski trips with Michelle to Colorado and Utah. He referred to Deer Valley as, "a little slice of heaven". We will miss many things about Dane, like his infectious laugh, sharing his knowledge of the Bible, and his spirited conversations about politics.
Dane was preceded in death at a young age by his father, Arlon Hatchett. In recent years Dane was preceded in death by his step-father, Tommy Holley, uncle Steve Hatchett, aunt Judy (Hatchett) Edlund, and cousin Kyle Edlund. Dane is survived by his wife Michelle, his mother Robbie Holley, his brothers Shon Hatchett (Maria) and Ross Hatchett (Leigh Ann), step brother Mark Holley (Keitha), and step sister Sharla Holleman (Eric), and numerous nieces and nephews he dearly loved.
