Daniel E. Bailey's Obituary
Daniel Earl Bailey, 80, was born December 24, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas and died peacefully surrounded by family on September 25, 2014. He was a special Christmas gift to his parents Pearl Octavia and Walter Earl Bailey and was predeceased by his sister and 2 brothers. He spent his childhood growing up in Wichita and graduated from Wichita North High School and Wichita State University where he was on the tennis team. After completing his undergraduate degree, Dan graduated from Central Baptist Seminary, Kansas City, Kansas where later he was ordained as a minister. From 1959-1969, Dan served as a minister at Community Christian Church (Kansas City, Missouri), Steven’s Park Christian Church (Dallas, Texas) and First Christian Church (Augusta, Kansas). Dan was a member of Northway Christian Church, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Kiwanis Club and was involved in many different organizations. He was affiliated with Rodger Meier Cadillac for 18 years and Sewell Cadillac for 20 years where he won numerous awards in Performance Excellence. Dan loved the outdoors, liked to golf, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a gourmet cook with an extensive collection of 200 plus cookbooks. Dan is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Gail Lloyd Bailey and her sons J.R. Hubbard and wife Brandi and their four children Travis, Dillon, Madison, and Briee, and her son Shawn Hubbard and his wife Melissa and their five children, Christian, Caleb, Cody, Caden, and Crash. Dan is also survived by his daughter Dr. Rebecca Bailey and granddaughter Laurel Bailey, and his son Dr. Daniel Bailey and grandson Taylor Christian Bailey, and their mother Frances Bailey Wood. In addition, Dan is survived by his mother-in-law Betty Jo Lloyd, and two brothers-in-law William Lloyd and Jack Lloyd. The family would like to thank close family friend Jim Mosely for all his support and care during Dan’s illness. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Dan will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
