Daniel William (Dan) Sifferd, age 85, of Dallas, Texas died December 13, 2018 in Richardson, Texas.He was born January 7, 1933, to Lacey J. Sifferd and Clara Delphia Sifferd in Ponca City, Oklahoma.Dan married Luada Jo McPherson on August 23, 1952 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.He was a Systems Engineer in Computer Aided Engineering at Texas Instruments for over 25 years.Dan graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. During his time at OU, he was a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, Trident Society (ROTC), the German Club and The University of Oklahoma Ruf/Neks.He served in the Navy from June 1954 to March of 1958 as a Lieutenant and Pilot in the Airborne Early Warning Squadron followed by serving in the Naval Reserves from April 1958 to September 1967.Dan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lu Sifferd, of Dallas, Texas; three children: Karen S. Schmidt and husband David of Midland, Texas; Daniel W. Sifferd, II of Richardson, Texas and Lori Ann Casey and husband Joe of Richardson, Texas and five grandchildren: Douglas B. Schmidt of Midland, Texas; Nicholas R. Trlica of Richardson, Texas; Kristin S. Schmidt of Midland, Texas; Jennifer L. Carpenter and Elizabeth A. Carpenter both of Dallas, Texas.Dan was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by his parents, Lacey J. Sifferd and Clara Delphia Sifferd, sisters Ruth Catherine Sifferd and Elizabeth Josephine Sifferd Claypool; brothers George Lyman Sifferd and Charles Edward Sifferd. He is survived by brothers, John (Jack) Sifferd and James (Jim) Sifferd and sister, Mary Jeanne Sifferd Brown, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.The visitation for Dan will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. .A Celebration of Dan’s life will be held in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM.Memorials may be made in remembrance of Daniel W. Sifferd to Community Christian Church, 1300 Holly Drive, Richardson, TX 75080, Alzheimer’s Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
