Daniel Killian's Obituary
Daniel Killian returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father on January 30 after enduring a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer at the age of 55.Born in 1963 in San Francisco, CA, the Killian family moved to Texas three years later. As young man, Daniel developed perhaps his greatest character quality – tenacity. His first entrepreneurial endeavor included a paper route, followed by a series of food service jobs. He poured his energies into soccer as well, developing skills that served him well at Duncanville High School where he graduated in 1981. He continued to play at the University of North Texas where he earned a BA. After college, he began work as a corporate director of accounting where he met his wife Terri. Daniel became Partner and Executive Vice President of HMC in 1998 and remained there for the duration of his career. As a father, Daniel put his soccer skills and knowledge to use coaching many teams. He poured himself into his players and his loyalty and encouraging spirit resulted in lifelong relationships. He made no bones about his priorities: faith, family and sports. He loved spending time with his family whether they were watching the Dallas Cowboys or traveling to Europe to watch soccer. The fearsome foursome laughed and cheered together, enjoying one another’s company.Daniel approached his cancer diagnosis with unwavering determination. His strength, courage and faithfulness were an inspiration to all. When it became evident that cancer would overtake his earthly body, Daniel knew that his soul was destined for a permanent home where there will be “no more crying and no more pain.” (Revelation 21)Daniel is survived by his wife of 26 years Terri, and sons Matthew, 22, and Kyle, 18, sisters Linda Atkins and Kathryn Brummett, brother Steve Killian and 19 nieces and nephews, and 24 great nieces and nephews.
